Spring Retreat 2012
We are thinking ahead to 2012. In the works is planning for our second POSA Retreat. Our last retreat, in 2010, was a great success. We will be asking for more input and help with planning in the
fall, 2011. If you would like to help plan our retreat, contact Rosalie or Teresia.

February 11, 2012, POSA Presents
Susan Kennedy
Susan Kennedy came to the Orff side after earning her M.A. in Dance from UCLA and
performing in Modern and European Ethnic Dance companies. She established two Orff
Schulwerk programs in inner city public schools in San Francisco before signing on
at the Chinese American International School, where she is in her fifteenth year
teaching Pre-K through 8th graders. Susan was for 12 years the Movement teacher
in the Mills College/San Francisco School Levels Training course, and has presented
her students’ performing groups in two AOSA national conferences. She has served
as an Orff Schulwerk clinician nationally and internationally – but POSA is one of
her favorite chapters!
Susan has created a workshop specifically for POSA. Let’s get together and dance, gather ideas for our students, and have our own fun! The emphasis will be on movement expressions from around the world that:
- are appropriate for a variety of ages;
- are performance friendly;
- allow opportunities for creative input;
- may be accompanied with Orff instruments, recorders, voice and unpitched percussion;
- include references to support materials such as YouTube links and easily available books with instrumental arrangements.
All levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please dress for on-your-feet movement, and bring soprano and alto recorders and violins (simple).
The workshop will be held at the Catlin Gabel School. Click this link for directions.
